Are you looking to earn a little extra money on weekends? Would you like to partner with an organization fighting a great cause?
The Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research (www.pancreatic.org ) is looking for Promotional Spokespeople to join us in promoting our largest fundraising event.
Nearly 38,000 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this year, and over 34,000 will die from the disease. Pancreatic cancer research constitutes less than 2 percent of the National Cancer Institute's Federal research funding, a figure far too low given the severity of the disease, its mortality rate, and how little is known about how to arrest the disease. The Hirshberg Foundation's ultimate goal is supporting the ongoing efforts to find a cure for this disease. Our continued funding of basic and translational research is our chance to offer life extension, better treatment options and, eventually, a cure. Now in our tenth year, the Foundation’s dedicated efforts have significantly raised awareness and understanding about pancreatic cancer, a disease that continues to be one of the most fatal and least funded of all cancer types.
Our largest fundrasing event of the year is a 5K/10K walk run called the Los Angeles Cancer Challenge (www.lacancerchallenge.com). Our event was the winner of "LA's Choice" for best running event last year. This has been made possible in part by our wonderful team of Promotional Spokespeople that we send to other running events on weekends in the Los Angeles area to promote our event and cause. We are looking for friendly, outgoing people to join our cause that are passionate about fighting cancer.
Most events take place on Saturday and Sunday mornings and volunteers are needed for between 1 and 3 hours in the early morning. There are occasional events to which we send our promotional team outside of these times as well. Once on the promotional team, our volunteers accept promotional assignments on a case by case basis as the events occur. A $15 per hour honorarium is given for your time.
